Introduction
The Instrumental Analytics Laboratory is located in the Equipment Center in the basement of the Shinseikan , and it is staffed by two faculty members: Atsushi Hirose (Associate Professor) and Mayumi Ikegami-Kawai (Assistant Professor).
The current main research themes involve using the various large-scale analytical instruments installed in the Equipment Center for analyzing the structure and interactions of functional molecules, as well as studying the kinetics of substances in living organisms using radioisotopes.
In terms of education, the laboratory primarily handles lectures and practical training related to analysis and radiation, in collaboration with professors from other laboratories.
Additionally, while this laboratory focuses on education and research as an independent entity, it also plays a significant role in maintaining and improving the overall educational and research environment of the university. This includes 1. managing and operating shared equipment and facilities, 2. compiling budgets and grant applications for large-scale instruments, 3. conducting commissioned analyses using NMR and mass spectrometry, and 4. managing education and information related to the use of radiation.
